God-Size Vision Targeting Every Pin Code in Mumbai
An excited pastor, Shirish, from the Free Methodist Church in Mumbai,
wrote: “Harvest outreach teams consisting of 175 trainers from 52 Witnessing
without Fear trained churches in Bombay shared the Gospel with 17,13 people, of
whom 4,524 prayed to receive Christ. We have recently been following up on
4,909 of them. In addition, we distributed 412,525 Gospel tracts. Even more
exciting was the passion and confidence these teams demonstrated in sharing
their faith, having been trained.”
One of the most prominent events in the city’s calendar is Ganesh
Chaturthi, an 11-day Hindu festival celebrated with great fervor every August
or September. The celebration culminates in a dramatic spectacle as enormous
statues of the elephant-headed deity Ganesh are paraded through the streets and
immersed in the sea. The enormous effigies are hauled
into the river by crane.
Mumbai (Bombay) has a population of 22 million residents and is known
for its immense challenges and significant influence. It struggles with high
crime rates, is home to Asia’s largest slum, housing over a million people,
hosts an estimated 100,000 street children, and battles the tragedy of child
prostitution. Despite these difficulties, Mumbai holds powerful sway over
India’s economy and culture. It houses the nation’s stock exchange and is the
heart of India’s film industry, Bollywood.
